India is a country of festivals. Many festivals are celebrated in india like diwali, holi, guru purnima etc. ’Guru Purnima’ is a famous festival of hindus. In Sanskrit language, ‘GU’ means darkness and ‘RU’ means one who removes. The full moon day of the month ashada masa is celebrated as Guru Purnima.

Guru purnima is also known as vyasa purnima. The day is celebrated as a mark of respect to the ‘GURU’ i.e. a teacher. It is celebrated in the sacred memory of Veda Vyasa, the first teacher who documented and classified all Vedas. This is a reason why guru purnima is also known as vyasa purnima.

Guru purnima is the day to feel great knowledge you have received from your teacher. A teacher(guru) is someone who teach us life lessons and help us to became a better person. A guru not only gives us the right direction to reach our goal but also motivates us to reach it.

Parents are our first teacher and they are always there to guide us on right path. Teachers are our second gurus who define our societal and cultural belief. Gurus are very important in our life because they are the ones who guide us, motivate us and believe in us.
